The Automatic close up mode means trying to capture a subject from a close distance. Some such subjects can include flowers, bugs or butterflies and any other miscellaneous small objects. It is highly recommended to use a tripod while using the close up mode to reduce shakes and blurs.

Macro Photography means that the size of the subject on the negative is greater than life size. A Macro lens allows you to magnify a small subject in a certain ratio like 1:1 or 1:4. This means that a Macro lens magnifies the subject size on the film plane (image sensor plane) to the actual subject size.
For macro photography, one needs to invest in the specific macro lenses as it cannot achieve the same result with the close-up mode on the mode dial.

Portrait simply means depicting “characteristics” of a person. This does not necessarily mean capturing faces all the time. You could bring out the feature of any person in innumerable ways:
    • Capture people along with their environment, typically called as environmental portraits
    • Capture an uptight close up of their best expression
    • Nothing like a candid portrait
    • Capture just a feature you think best highlights the character of the person: this could include hands, feet, wrinkles of the forehead or absolutely anything that turns you on as a photographer at the moment.
    • Commercially, there are various categories of portraits: corporate, kids, bridal, wedding, modeling, family, couples, pregnancy and i am sure there are many more than this.
Shooting portraits makes me very happy. As a photographer i feel that every person is very special in his or her own way and if we can bring the best in everybody, we make great photographs

Comments: I quite like the simplicity of the frame. The orange-yellow hues of the sky and its reflection in the water look very romantic. A handful of row houses along with a beautiful backyard completes the picture.  The image looks very well balanced, exposed and composed. Absolutely number one for the day!

Comments: I love the choice of subject used to fill the frame. The image totally makes me want to go to the beach. The colors look incredible. I just have a problem with the exposure. The sun is totally burnt out with no details in the white areas. This problem could have been avoided by changing the camera’s metering mode to spot or underexposing the picture by half a stop. But other than that its a great image.

Creating a tremendous wildlife photograph is an extremely rewarding pursuit. However, developing the skills and techniques necessary to create captivating wildlife images is more difficult than it might appear on the surface. Composition, lighting, equipment, natural history, and patience are just some of the areas the wildlife photographer needs to specialize in.

    1. Be aware of clutter in the background that might distract from your subject.
    2. While capturing wild life photography, keep in mind to focus and sharpen the eyes of your primary subject.
    3. Using fine grain film or a digital sensitivity setting in the ISO 50 or 100 range on a bright day will allow you later to enlarge a cropped section of the picture and obtain a relatively sharp picture.
    4. Try to capture your subject in action.

There’s always one…wild life photography theme

Comments:I quite like the vantage point chosen to capture the frame. Shooting from the top was a great idea. Also the fact that one elephant stands out from the rest is commendable. Its almost like a pattern being fromed out of all the other elephants and just one standing out in a very unique and charming way. On the whole its a fantastic image. One also has to appreciate the great sense of timing !!

Absolutely number one for the day !!
