Make a selection with a oval marquee tool.

Fill white in the selection just made. (Edit> Fill)

Take the smudge tool

Try and achieve the following patterns with the smudge tool.

Then go to the Image>Adjustemnt >Color balance (Ctl/cmnd+B)

Select midtones and make necessary changes

Select highlights and make the necessary changes

Select Shadows and make the necessary changes
Till you achieve the above result keep moving the color balance sliders.

The image needs some rain.

Press Cmd/Ctl+ J to create a duplicate layer. Make the image appear a little darker by using levels. Image >Adjustment> Levels. Look at the diagram to understand the movement of the chart.

Press Shift+Cmd/Cntl+N to get a new layer. Select color –white.

Go filter> Noise> add noise

Go to Filter> Bur> Motion blur

Go to Image> adjustment > Levels to make the following changes.

Change the layer blend mode to Screen and reduce opacity of the layer to 70%

Image with the rain effect.

Press cmd/Cntl+J to duplicate the background layer.  Layer 1 will appear.

Press Cmnd/Cntl+Alt+C to open canvas size and select the canvass size in inches according to your preference for the frame while you are on layer 1.

You will see that a white border will appear around the frame.

Create a new layer above layer 1 as shown in the pic.

Go to Edit > Fill> and select the wooden frame as shown.

Keep your cursor on layer 1 and hit Cmnd/Cntl to get the selection of the image.

Press Shift+Cmnd/Cntl+I to inverse the image selection.

Goto layer 2 and create a layer mask as shown. You will see the picture appear through the wooden frame.

Method 2: Screen mode

Fig 3: Press Cmd/Cntl+J to copy and paste the selected portion of teeth onto a new layer. Change the Mode of the layer to screen. That makes the white portion look whiter. The effect is too strong in itself, but by reducing the opacity you can control the amount of whitening effect you want.

Method 3: Curves

Fig 3: Open curve dialogue box (Cmnd/Cntl+M on Mac or pc respectively). Keep the channel as RGB an drag the top right corner of the diagnol ine to the left as shown.

Fig 4: You will notice that the result is slightly yellowing. Hence change the channel to blue, as blue compliments yellow. Then create curve as shown.

1) Removing shines:

Follow the diagrammatic view to understand the same.

The shine on the models face spoils the shot over quite a broad area.

Make a feathered selection of the shiny areas to be fixed. Feather should be around 8-10 pixels.

After making the selection create a new layer by the name remove shine. Use an eye dropper to sample the color of the midtone of the skin.

(1 and 2): Fill the selection with the sampled color. By going to Edit> Fill.

Go to the Remove shine layer and reduce its opacity to 60%

Shine removed.

2) Adding and enhancing Highlights:

Follow the diagrammatic view to understand the same.

Picture is a little flat and needs some highlights.

For this, create a duplicate layer by the name highlights.

Select the dodge tool and set its exposure to 50% at midtone range.

Drag the dodge tool with soft brush over the cheek bones. If you are getting strong highlights then reduce the exposure even further.

Try generating some highlights above the eyes too.

If you feel that the highlights are too strong then you can create a mask on the highlight layer. Paint on the mask with a black brush to retrieve the original areas of the skin.

The model has certain blemishes  that can certainly be removed. For isolated blemishes healing brush tool offers the fastest result.

Images that needs a skin treatment.

Select the healing brush tool. Go to tool bar options and set the source to sampled. The tool will now copy the texture from the area first sampled, while retaining the current color & brightness.

Place cursor over an area from which you want to copy pixels. press Alt+click to make a few registration point. This now becomes the sampled originated point.

Now place the cursor over the blemish requiring removal and click to paint out the offending area. In this instance one click will suffice, provided the size of the brush is big enough to cover the blemish. Unlike the Clone stamp tool, healing brush tool matches the texture, shading, lighting and transparency of the original subject.

2) Smoothing wrinkles:

The model needs some wrinkle treatment.

First, make a registration point by Alt +click under the heavy line below the eye.

Now drag the brush over the heavy line. While dragging, the color being painted may appear quite different, as it literally clones the pixels from the sampled area onto the new area. However, on releasing the mouse button, the necessary shade and texture adjustments will be made to give a seamless result.

3) Multiple Blemishes:

Image needs some treatment:

First, make feathered selection of areas where more than one blemish exist.

Now go to, Filter>Noise> Dust & scratches. This filter is normally associated with cleaning up of scans and old images. But don’t let that put you off. Set Threshold to 9 as it will show you some skin texture. If the threshold is too low then skin might appear too smooth and  looks false. Set the radius to 21, but gauge this by eye. Every image might require a different treatment.. The end result is a blemish free skin.

Needs some soft focusing treatment.

Make a duplicate copy of the layer (ctl/Cmd+J) and rename it as Gaussian blur.

Go to the filters menu and select Gaussian Blur as shown in the image

Keep the % upto 23 roughly.

Reduce the opacity of the layer to about 37% roughly. (you can reduce more to see how you like the soft focus effect)

Add a layer mask to the Gausssian Blur layer from below. Now select the Brush Tool from the tools panel and brush on the areas that you want sharp from the rest of the soft focus areas (like eyes, lips, nose, etc)
Please note : that If there is a white Mask (default) you must paint with Black color. And vice versa.

Fig 2: Make selection of the lips and give it a feather of about 3% for smoothness.

Fig 3: Press (cmnd/Cntl+ J) to make selection appear on a new layer. Rename as lips.

Fig 4: Go to Image> Adjustment> Select color. Select the color red and slide the cyan slider to the left. You will see the lips turn a little pinkish. Select absolute method from below.

Fig 5: on the layers panel change the blend mode to color burn. You will see that the lips appear to be red.

Fig 6: Open up the curves panel (cmnd/Cntl+ M). Adjust the curve as shown in the diagram.

Fig 7: Make a highlight layer on top of the lips layer. Paint a portion with 18% gray on certain portion of the lips.

Fig 8: Change the Mode of the highlight to color dodge and reduce the opacity of the layer to about 60%.
